What is this test?
This is a genetic test to see if you have any of the four PML risk mutations discovered by global leaders in the field. Read more about their groundbreaking research on the PML-Genetic Link page.

Who should take this test?
Anyone taking an immunosuppressive medication (such as multiple sclerosis and cancer patients) or with an immunocompromising condition (such as HIV). Visit the What is PML page to learn more.

Do I have to pay for the test?
No. This test is entirely FREE to residents in the United States. If you are outside of the US and wish to get tested, please email us.

Will anyone know my results or that I took the test?
No. The information you provide on the order form is solely to have a collection kit sent to you and is completely separate from the testing process. Only you and the medical professional returning your results will know your status.

What happens after I fill out the order form?
You will receive email confirmation with your Sample ID number and a saliva collection kit will be shipped to your address in about a week. Remember to write your Sample ID# along with your Date of Birth in ink on the outside of the test tube before returning your sample. DO NOT write your name to keep your test confidential.

Is it difficult to provide a saliva sample?
The test is far easier than an at-home COVID test. It is simple and takes just a few minutes. Visit the Test Instructions page and watch this demonstration video to learn more.

Where do I drop off my sample? Do I need to pay for shipping?
When filling out the test kit survey, you will select a preference to return the kit via FedEx or UPS. Either option will provide you a pre-paid return envelope in your kit so you do not have to pay anything for shipping.

When will I get my results?
Your results will be emailed to you within about three weeks of shipping your sample, but may take longer. Email us at info@pmlrisktest.org if you have not heard back within three weeks.

What do I do with my results?
The medical professional reporting your results will describe how you should talk to your physician about them.

What will be done with my sample?
Nothing will be done with your sample without your consent.
